i have this flock along time, they always twitch their heads when they are just standing or relaxing. they are gamefowl and i have seen this same beavor in other peoples gamefowl as well but dont think it is normal. i use poultry dust a couple times a year, i think it could be bugs dont see none. any help would be appreciated thanks

my birds do this too. if you rule out bugs it could be a couple of things; lack of vitamin for one or simply a nervous twitch. I'm trying to give vitamins to mine now to see if it helps. so far still twitching. I asked this same question to the chicken doctor on the chicken whisper show. if it's not bugs or ears or lack of vitamin it could simply be a nervous tick or habit. I'm trying a vitamin called vita pro B. to see if it helps
mine are silkies and could be the hair bothering them too. I haven't been able to stop it yet. so first check for bugs check ears if nothing you can try vitamin or as I said could be a nervous tick. but mine are still doing it so I'm leaning toward a nervous thing. hope this helps a little. good luck.

Do an experiment... Get a box, put a layer of white paper towels on the bottom, dust a bird that's shaking its head, put the bird in the box, come back in an hour and see if there are any dead bugs on the paper towels, I bet there will be feather lice.

Make sure the coop is well ventilated and not to moist. Recently my sullied frizzled Cochin pullets head has been twitching since we got her and think it could be that
