I have 22 birds or so, barred rock and easter eggers, two roosters with the hens, and two younger cockerels that sleep in another coop. They all hang out around the house too much, crapping on my sidewalk and porch rails... dusting under my porch and so forth. I figured if they knew I killed one of them they might stay away more so one of my younger roos bit the dust this morning, of course this didn't bother them at all and they were actually more accepting of this bird than they were when he was alive. Straight to the point though, how do I get these birds to stay away from my house and stop crapping on my sidewalk?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

you are out of luck unless you fence them off.

If you look at a modern, suburban/small town neighborhood you see lots of open space with animals fenced in their enclosures.

If you look at old photos of rural houses from the heyday of the small farm you'll see animals out in the open areas with fences keeping them out of the garden and the house yard.

Both ways work.

My husband has been doing duty on our deck with a water pistol. Playing chicken shoot as soon as they hop on the deck. We've been working on this for 3 days, and it does actually seem to be working.
