Is Canary/finch seed ok to feed chickens?

Do you have the ingredient list handy? If not, don't worry. Maybe someone will be along soon who knows.

I feed my chickens a lot of different kinds of seeds. One concern might be that if it contains calcium (extra), it wouldn't be good for chickens not laying yet.

It won't hurt them but it's very low in protein

Not the healthiest thing but it won't do them any harm. Mine used to rush over to the neighbor's as soon as they were let out so they could steal the bird seed she threw on the ground.
