My poor 2 week old French black copper maran has a bum leg, it makes me sad to see her gimp along through the brooder, I'm not sure if I should just see if she will grow into it or maybe think of amputation? I think she may be in pain though cause she just likes to lay down. Her hip joint looks like it is protruding from her right side of her body...anyone else have this happen before?

or are the toes curled, as in curly toe paralysis (vitamin b2 deficiency)?

especially check this one out!

If you decide to try vitamin therapy, some on BYC use poly vi sol without iron...try searching for it if needed or ask.

I wasn't clear on whether this has just happened, or if the chick was born like that. If it is spraddle leg, you only have a few days to correct it. If it is a vitamin deficiency, the same thing holds true in that it needs to be corrected quickly.
