Buttermilk: Last year we lost our own little Juni B. :'(
Snap: I can't believe it's been a whole year. It honestly feels a whole lot longer than that...
Me: Junior was my Barred Rock. I honestly don't know if I can call her a bantam cause she wasn't quite that small! I think that she had some birth defects because she had un-even wattles, a crooked beak, and she didn't quite go to the whole full size of a BR. Here are some pictures...

The four chickens that started the chat thread are Bisquick, Buttermilk, Snapperston, and Junior. They are quite the foursome...

Junior is the smallest, the quietest, and yet at the same time the strongest personality of them all. She is always trying to get Bisquick to let her write down names for the thread, but she hasn't succeeded. She is as cheerful as Pecky [from the egg farm] and sweet as Lanie, all wrapped up in a small, quiet, barred rock hen. Truthfully, I cannot say much about Junior, because there is so much to say, you could never fit Junior neatly into words...

...Junior is quite the friend, and we identify quite well, as we are both the small/young ones in our flock. She is in some of the same levels I am in school, and is quite helpful to me.

Sunrise's Diary--January 4th
Junior is dead. Oh, Junior. Oh, Bisquick, Buttermilk, Snap. This leaves a hole in our hearts, in the thread. the truth is, there will never be another Junior on the thread, no matter how many small barred rocks there are...there will never be a replacement for Junior.

Sophia: Out east and midwest it is even colder! Marianne, we need eight cabbage leaves and a casserole dish. Elanor, mix up some layerbutter with eggs, we need two cups, four if you want some for breakfast tomorrow. I'll warm up the stove.
Marianne: The cassorole dish is in the Sunroom. I'm not going out there, it's too cold!
Sophia: Nonsense, chickencrazy and chicksgalore have it worse. Get out there! All you need to do is bring a cassarole dish!
Marianne: Fine!
Sophia: Ellie, WHAT are you doing?
Elanor: getting some water...
Sophia: Don't get it that way, you'll tip the fount. Go get some snow, it'll melt on the stove, and the layerbutter mixes smoothly that way.
Elanor: You want me to go out into the RUN? Where it is COLD!
Sophia: All you need is a DISH OF SNOW!!
