Elanor: I am due to start laying July 10th.
Marinne: Mommy thinks Ellie will be the first to lay, Followed by Marge, Me, and then Willoghby--IF she's a hen.
Selena: what about broodiness?
Marianne: next spring, definalty.
Elanor: Hm, maybe the spring when Marianne does.]
Willoghby: If I am a hen, I probably will soon.
Margaret: Maybe...Maybe...

Buttermilk: *GROWL*
Bisquick: *rolls eyes* Butter's broody.
Snap: It's SOOOOO annoying to have a broody trying to crawl in the nestbox while you're trying to lay!!
Bisquick: I had to free range all by myself today because Snap was laying and Butter was broody!!
Pippy: She free ranged with us!!
Hazel: She pecked me.
Me: And that was it!! Definite improvement on Bissy's part.
Hedwig: She ran after us though. That was scary.
Omelette: And we also played with the bunnies!! They came out and played with us!
Hedwig: I'm Buddy's best friend-- I followed her around everywhere!

Elanor: Buttermilk, that decision has NO logic whatsoever!! If you are not going to be allowed to raise chicks, why go broody?
Selena: Isn't it...fun?
Elanor: NO!! Of course not!! Although raising the chicks can be rewarding and enjoyable, the broodiness is long and unpleasent. And it is hard on a hen's health. There is no point to broodiness if there is no reward!
Sophia: Girl, you have been reading Sunrise's old book A laying hen's guide to broodiness and raising chicks WAY too much lately.
Elanor: Want to read it, Butter? It has some good guidlines on when to decide to brood.

Creampuff: Look what mommy made!

Me: Cool picture, ilovemysilkie!!! :D

Buttermilk: Well, you see I went broody cause I was REALLY in the mood this afternoon when I saw all those eggs just calling my name, BUT I got bored, and gave up.
Bisquick: She took a turn for the BEST!
Snap: Thank GOODNESS!!!
Hedwig: What's a broody?
Bisquick: Something you are not allowed to be.
Hazel: *rolls eyes* It's when a hen wants to hatch out her eggs.
Hedwig: Ooohhhh!!!
Omelette: Sounds kinda fun!
Pippy: NONE of my sisters are going broody!!!

Pebble: Hmmmmmmm broody. Dandy, should I...
Dandelion: *Screaming and waving wings* NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOO!
Pebble: I didn't even ASK you a question yet!
Dandelion: No. Never. Nuh-uh. Aboslutely NOT! Positively negative. ZIP! ZILCH! NADA!
Pebble: Ok, ok! I won't go broody!
Dandelion: *phew*
