Bisquick: Well, cooking is better than brooding, so okay!!

Selena: Um, I think I am going to go over to the dustbath spot.
Elanor: can I dustbathe with you?
Selena: The dustbath spot near the garden. too far for you to walk.
Sophia: Stop trying to evade baking! I'm going to need help from you.
Selena: can't the chicks do it??
Sophia: Margaret has a hard time not eating the batter or other ingredients, Elanor can't tell the difference between salt, sugar, and white flour, Marianne always wants to experiment with stuff when I want to follow the recipe exactly, and Whilloghby...well, it happens differently every time, but the cellar and him and me always end up coated in egg, with a light dusting of flour. You, Sally Dear, are the ideal assistant; you know what each ingredient is, you don't eat raw batter, you don't like experimenting, and you don't make a mess.
Selena: A simple "no they can't help" would be so much better!

Snap: *runs to pantry* Yea sure! *gets sugar*
Buttermilk: That sugar.
Snap: Oh. *gets confectioner's sugar*
Buttermilk: Ugh! That's sugar too!
Snap: WHAT?!
Buttermilk: *gets flour* THIS is flour.

Sophia: Okay, here it is...
ingredients
1 cup of layer feed
5 tbs oyster shell, finely ground
5 tbs of tomato, finely chopped
3 tbs shredded clover and/or dandelion leaves
1 tbs grass
1 egg, shells, white, and yolk
grit
water

1. put feed into pan and pour water into it until mixture is soupy.
2. let sit five hours or until layer feed has settled at the bottom of mixture
3. pour out excess water and add all other ingredients
4.add water and stir until mixture becomes soupy
5. let sit until mixture has settled, then pour off excess water and strain mixture through cloth
6 let sit until mixture is thick and smooth
