Martha: ARGHHH!!!! DARK!
Charlotte: This is not dark, chick. Just wait until Mama turns off the red lamp and the brooder room light AND the Sun goes to bed...that's really dark.
A. J.: Dont be silly, the red lamp is always there, Mama never turns it off.
Agnes: No, dear, it's truth. Before you and Martha came, Mama turned it off for little bits of time, then more and more, then finally left it off all night long!
Martha: *gasp* You mean it can be darker??? Hide me, A.J.
A. J.: But, you're twice as big as I am!
Martha: So? I can fit my head (mostly) under your wing, that's enough.
Agnes: Baby chicks should be asleep...we were going to tell everychicken about our big day, not talk about the dark, and such.
Charlotte: So much happened today, it was like many different big days made into one!
Bessie: So much is happening everywhere! New chicks, new coops, birthdays, planning Buttermilk's trip to the Bahamas...
Emily: We got more SCRAMBLED EGG!
Agnes: We get scrambled egg just about every other day.
Emily: But, it's always just as GOOD! Every time! Eggs are like magic and we get to make them when we grow up

Anne/Anton: *mutters to self* "some chickens get to make stupid magic eggs when they grow up; some of us chickens have to be a stupid boy..."
Charlotte: But, you'll be such a great rooster, you're so brave!
Bessie: Yeah, we were on the floor in the brooder room the s'morning and Mama let Puppy Portia come in while Mama held her collar so we would all be safe if Puppy Portia got too excited seeing us out of our brooder.
Emily: Ann- oops, Anton stayed tall and herded us all to the corner...
Agnes: I must admit, I was looking nervously over my shoulder with the rest of the pullets. I love Puppy Portia, but she's so BIG when I'm not standing on top of the waterer...with the brooder wall between us.
Bessie: But, then Anton rushed right up to Puppy Portia's FACE!
Emily: You should've seen her, erm, him furiously flapping his wings!
Agnes: After that, Mama let Portia out, put the little peeps in the big box with shavings and cleaned our brooder soooo nice...all fresh pine (that hasn't had all of the water dumped on it) smells simply wonderful.
Anne/Anton: I liked it outside...
Emily: OUTSIDE! It's as good as Scrambled Egg

Bessie: Mama made us a "play-penitentiary"...
Charlotte: It's "playpen".
Bessie: No, Mama said "play-penitentiary".
Agnes: She was talking to Aunt Lia, she was joking.
Bessie: Anyway, Mama made us a place to play and scratch in a patch of clover...it was the best!
Agnes: Oh, to feel the sun on my feathers!
Emily: Mama took so many pictures. I really wish we could put them up here for everychicken to see.
Bessie: We had such a lovely afternoon outside with Mama that I just *had* to give her extra love at bedtime

Charlotte: Speaking of bedtime...
Agnes: Just as you say, Charlotte. Morning comes early, girls (oops, sorry Anton, I keep forgetting)!
All Chickens: G'night friends!
