" The Cold Came Early"
by Sunrise, Susan, and Selena
Smoke was in the warm fall air, the dog days not too long ago
but one night, outside our coop, cold wind began to blow.
rain followed the wind, cleaning out the smoky skies.
When we awoke the next morning, we found, to our surprise
that the cold had come early,that fall weather had arrived.


A frost arrived the next morning, making the world White
Each pine needle, each blade of grass, glittered in the light.
All the puddles had frozen solid, and the air was icy cold
The wintry sunrise looked like it was made of gold

We were thinking that it couldn't stay, that it was summer still
but it has now been here for three days and it just might will
Be the start of the cold although it is usually later in the year
The cold weather has come early, the cold weather is here.

Promy: I almost laid an egg today
Minnie: almost doesn't mean anything sister!
Promy: no but really I almost did, and then Mom came and I had to go get treats!
Minnie: you didn't HAVE to go get treats
Promy: Minnie you okay? This is treats were talking about. You've never exactly missed a meal
Minnie: you're about to get pecked Prometheus; I'd run if I were you
Promy: *rockets around the run*

Seriously though, Prometheus was checkin' out the nesting boxes today come onnnn, Easter egger!
