I have no idea when I removed the mass it was almost like a huge skin tag with a layer of skin behind it I didn’t make it into any bone. I’m thinking a huge cyst or a fatty tumor. When I lanced I didn’t see any puss just blood. There were pockets of dirt-like substance all throughout the mass.
it very well could be I’m not sure but I’m hoping for the best. For now until I can get the mass to a vet I’ll just keep her wound clean and hopefully she will recover and it won’t come back.I've removed a few fatty tumors and cysts, and none had gritty dirt in them.
I removed a big staph infection on a pigeon's chest once, and it did have gritty dirt in it, because she'd nestle down and get dirt on her, I suppose. That particular staph was more near the surface and easy to remove, but it was quite large and on her lower chest below her crop. It still sounds like a staph infection to me.
