Hello--
Not sure if this is the right category for this "problem." Yesterday morning my friend spent about an hour in my henhouse doctoring my rooster who had been attacked by a dog. (The rooster is doing better today, he has a very stiff neck and we were hand feeding him but today he has started eating on his own and holding his head up higher...he is alert and his color is good). I spent a good deal of time in the henhouse last evening too. I did sit in the bedding for a little while, and both of us had held the rooster in our arms. So, this morning I woke up with dozens of incredibly itchy red bumps on my forearms, neck and hairline which are still driving me crazy! I talked to my friend about an hour ago and he reported having the exact same thing! We had both worked on planting the garden but that was 2 days ago. Niether of of us recalls seeing anything on our skin that would have bitten us (as far as mosquitos, etc). So now I am horrified that we got something from the chickens! I've had chickens for several years and handle them daily, but have never had anything like this. I treated them with permethrin dust last fall, but never got around to retreating this spring. Could these be lice or mite bites? Could they still be on me???? Please help!!
