Biting hen

I have a lip piercing... I have to be careful with all my birds with that :D
Ohh, I bet, Shiny!
They are such sweet things. Curious, all the time.

I had 4 of the 6 on my arms and shoulders today, and they started pecking at my hair, lol. I set them down after that!
They let me pet them, and usually come when I call. Usually.

Hand raising chicks to have friendlier chickens has been true so far for me, but I admit that I'm not sure about the rooster yet.
Peavey Mart said they were sexed to 90%, yet one of my six "girls" is not a female. 🤦‍♀️

That's him, sleeping, in my avatar.
I guess I'll see how adolescence goes. ☺️

He's a cutie! I hope he grows up into a fine gentleman!

Thanks.
Newbie questions must seem so dumb, lol.

It makes sense tho. They will understand pecking behavior.
I need to think more like a chicken.
We all have to start somewhere and it's good to ask questions, that's the fast track to no longer being a newbie! :D

I have 'pecked' my birds using my hand too, it does seem to communicate to them on their level of understanding, just a gentle but firm peck to their back or back of the neck seems to be the spot where they learn fastest. Never to hurt them, just to correct any unwanted behaviour. I let mine peck my clothes, but never my skin.
