I have a female pet Pekin. She is 1 year and 4 months old and has just randomly started getting mean. She was always friendly and cuddly and loved to be held, but now every time I try, she freaks and bites me anywhere she can get ahold of. Will she go back to being lovey again? :-(

Has she been laying? Perhaps she is going broody. The hormonal changes can affect their personalities.

NOOOOO, not Norbie! Hehe I've actually been subbed to your youtube channel for months (I'm Amelia Bee, the owner of Wobbles). :p

My Bean isn't laying nor molting, so I can't back up Amiga but she's had ducks for-evuh and she knows pretty much all there is to know. She could just be hormonal, too. Wobbles turns into a tornado when he's in season and it takes some time for him to stop being a jerk and start being his sweet affectionate self. I think patience, peas, and slow movements are your safest bet.

You know, if she's feeling blah and grumpy, you might try some vitamins with electrolytes and probiotics - just a boost. And if she's molting, a couple of teaspoons of good quality dry cat kibble for protein and feather-growing.

Thanks Amykins and Amiga :-)
Amiga- Where would I get said vitamins and is there a specific type of cat kibble? I just don't want to give my duckie the wrong thing by accident!

I use Vitamins and Electrolytes Plus, but there are other brands, and feed stores often carry them. Just be sure you get the proper amount of powder in the water. For that brand, it's one quarter teaspoon powder per gallon of drinking water. It's very concentrated. Some of the labels say things like, " add contents of package to 100 gallons of water." Not helpful for making a gallon or two of mix!

For cat kibble we have Eagle Pak. I think there's one called Taste of the Wild. Maybe you can find a sampler pack at a pet store. That would be nice. Do you know anyone with pampered cats? They might be willing to give you a cup of kibble.

I would, if we lived closer to each other.

My cats eat blue buffalo, it's high quality and the ducks love it. Just don't go overboard with the stuff, it's a good protein-y treat but dry kibble has a lot of corn sugars and carbs too.
