I have kept a flock for more than 5 years. I KNOW that I have room for 12 head.

This fall is going to be tough! Cause right now, I have 5 laying hens and a roo. A broody hen with chicks, and because she did not settle real well at first, I ordered pullets to put under her. Anyway she has 13 following her around, and looking cheerful. And today, my EE, whose eggs, I collected carefully, just in case, and when the previous broody hen left her clutch twice before getting situated, none of those eggs were successful.

That is enough hens for me for the winter, and then some.

So why, a week ago, did I start to keep just a small bowl on the counter with the green eggs in it? I must of picked up so vibes, cause miss EE is as big as a basketball and growling on a nest today.

So I slipped down the 6 eggs I have been saving........

and put them under her..... I mean I hate to waste a broody hen, and I really wanted some chicks from her, she is a good layer and.........

yep, I have been bitten..... hope I can sell some point of lay chickens!
