Bitten By The Brabanter Bug...

Hi All,

I hope you suffer chicken lovin' fools gladly, as I think I have become one! I am just starting to want chickens and doing my research-all because I met a crazy gold Belgian Brabant named Phyllis Diller. If anyone knows of where to get a gold, I would love to know about it. I do have a mentor, and will get a coop and start an enclosure in a couple of weeks. This is a wonderful site. Thank you so much!

Ideal hatchery has them BUT the site says they are sold out until next spring. You might be able to call customer service and see, but from what I understand, specialty breeds hatch in the spring. I got my cream brabanter from Ideal, and I'm VERY happy with her.

Thanks for the reply. I called Ideal today, as the friend with the Phyllis, (-; said they did. Well, the person who answered at Ideal sounded like I had just asked her if they had crocodiles... I will not give up. I had someone email me today that says they have them. I'd like to see more, if they are out there.

If you are on Facebook there is a page for Appenzeller Spitzhaubens and several of the breeders on that page have the Brabanters as well. Asking on this page may get you better quality than you would get from a hatchery.
