Black and white chick with a white spot on its head?

it's possible that I am off by a few days or so... but yeah, that's about right. She JUST started barring out ... before that she was mostly black. There are others... but I don't think they get the white spot. Doms won't have a single comb... that leaves, to the best of my knowledge, Barred Rocks and Cuckoo Marans.

They couldn't Australorps right, because australorps have yellow and white with the black, not just black and white - right? and no spots on the head.

somebody remind me to never order a mix of chicks, but this is good. I am learning and have a new hobby - guess that bread.

But, just curious, it doesn't really matter what they are, right? They are what they are, and we just like to know the breed in case someone asks, but it's not going to make any difference what we call it!

j/k Looks like barred rock to me, too. http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/product/barred_rocks.html They have a chick picture at the bottom... doesn't look like the australorps...

Barring should start showing up in another couple of weeks. What fun, though... it's like Christmas, you don't know what you're going to get, but it will be a surprise!

I think Barred Rocks. Those are wonderful birds. We had the tamest BR who would ride on your shoulder. I should get a new one, now that I'm thinking about it.

Uh oh. More chickens!
