Tried looking this up & couldn't find anything...

Can anyone tell me what's going on with my Buff Orpington, Twitch? She had a little black on the bottom of her eye yesterday & today it is all over the outside of her eye & some black in her comb. Is it frostbite? Pecking? Scratching? Something else?

I live in Oregon where it's not that cold & she's the only one if my 11 hens with this.

Pic on the left is yesterday & the pic on the right is from today...

Just not sure what to do & concerned since it's such a drastic change from yesterday.

Thanks for any & all help on figuring this out!

I'm really not sure. I'm in Oregon where we've been unseasonably warm this winter. It's only getting down to the low40's/mid30's at night. I'm a first time chicken keeper. They'll be 1 on May 12th. They haven't stopped laying (actually got 11 eggs from 11 chickens today). Really not sure what's going on or what to do?!?

Here's a bigger, up close picture of her today so you can see the black better, hopefully...

Thanks for your help. Still not quite sure what it is, but leaning towards maybe Dry Fowl Pox? Someone on FB thought maybe eye worms, but her eye isn't swollen...I don't know.

Here's a picture from this morning. Doesn't seem as black.

Maybe you could put some antibiotic ointment on there and just see? What do the black spots feel like?

Is Neosporin OK to use by the eye? Or is there something else I should get?

It seems to just be I the eyelid. I'll have to run back out & feel it

Neosporin works great, I have treated bad eyes with it in the past and am currently treating one with a bad eye now. I clean it twice a day and put a thin film of Neosporin on it.
