Black Australorp egg laying

My black australorp was clucking this afternoon in two instances and when I went to check the nest box, there was no egg. She laid an egg earlier this morning. What's happening? Is she going broody?

When you say clucking do you mean like egg song clucking?
If not then it's pretty normal for hens to cluck through out the day

Yes, she kept going in and out of the coop sitting in the nest box, doing the song and going out of the coop.
