We can't have roosters in the city and I am starting to think our she may be a he. It looks completely different from the other 3 hens I have and it's tail is so much longer. Please help.

I had a vorwerk, which I couldn't decide on. It's was a lovely bird full of character and looked male, but never made a sound. Even my top hens bossed it about. It was right and the bottom if the pecking order. Weeks later on a lovely clear, dry morning it found the highest point in the run and, yep it was a he. Looking at yours I would say if its the same breed as the others and is different then it's probably a rooster.

Are you sure it's a australorp because i have 4 australorp hens thats tail feathers came out very slowly and didn't get so long only just when they turned 22 weeks old.If it was a cockerel the tail would feather out extra slowly. Can you maybe get a closer picture.

I have several black australorps (and blue), and I would say look at the comb and wattles. Females get very little, and the roos get quite large. The roos are a lot larger as well.
