Has anyone ever had this cross before?
I have 2 egg-a-day CWs and a flock of Aussies. I am wondering what a cross between the 2 breeds would result in. Anyone had any experience with this mix?
I realize CWs are already a mix of breeds, resulting in the production of leghorns with mellower personalities, and slightly heavier body types.
Can't help but wonder what sort of egg-machine mutts this mix would create.
Thanks, in advance, for any info.

Crossing a Black Australorp with a Cal White hen will give you approximately 50% black chicks and the rest divided between splash and whites if .....The laying ability could be iffy, depending on the egg laying ability of your Australorps...Recently ha small flock of Blacks that were terrible layers...Stop and start every time some minor event occured...

My aussies are prolific layers, so I am not worried about that. I just wondered what sort of chicks I might get. Also wondering what color eggs they would lay... brown, white or tint...?
Thanks for the prompt reply!

I just hatched 3 eggs from this same mix. All are white with varying black splashes. Looks like I have 2 males and 1 female. I will have to see how well the female lays for me.
