Hi - we gave a 3.5 month old australorp that I’m wondering if it’s a rooster. Can’t tell on feathers but tail has been upright, it protects the other hens, and the feathers and rail have green tinged feathers. Any thoughts?

I ordered 3 Australorp sexed pullets...
I ended up with 1 Black Australorp pullet, 1 Jersey Giant pullet and 1 beautiful Black Australorp cockerel I named Oliver.
He has always been skittish of us but he is great with his girls, he is vigilant about keeping watch and he has a wonderful “quiet” sort of crow.
We can have roosters where we are though.
I don’t think it’ll be hard to rehome him especially if he’s not human aggressive.
Try and find a Facebook group in your area for backyard chicken enthusiasts.
That’s how I was able to rehome my other roo.

looks a lot like a cockerel, but seems a bit small in comb. His tail looks male and I see saddle feathers on him. Has he crowed yet?

Here are 2 of our BA - one male and one female taken same day. They are 16 weeks old in this pic (so not quite 4 months old). You can see the difference in comb/wattles, and can see his tail is different than the female.
