Hi looking to possibly incubate some Black Australorps. Anyone that owns some can you please help answer some of my questions.

1) Do they get along with other breeds in your flock.

2) Are they quiet/docile/friendly?

3)Noisy egg song or none?

4) How well do they deal with confinement? ( A large run rather than free ranging)

5) Do they lay in winter?

6) Would you recommend them?

1) Do they get along with other breeds in your flock.
I have a very mixed flock of over a dozen breeds and my BA gets along just fine with all of them. She is ranking about #3 in a flock of 20.

2) Are they quiet/docile/friendly?
Mine is.
3)Noisy egg song or none?
Mine is quiet with a soft voice. Nearly all the chickens will issue an escort call after laying an egg.
4) How well do they deal with confinement? ( A large run rather than free ranging)
I let mine out into a 1/3 acre pen so I don't know.
5) Do they lay in winter?
Unless they are molting, they will lay at a much reduced rate like all hens will.
6) Would you recommend them?
Absolutely!
