Looks like a Black d'Uccle. Strange, too - the variety seems to be quite uncommon (Mille Fleur is the usual one), yet this is the second one I've seen on BYC this week. If you don't mind asking, where/how did you happen to acquire her? Both her and the other one I saw seemed to be a pretty nice quality bird, which is surprising because usually when people have a bird who's breed they don't know the breed of, it ends up being hatchery quality. Yet both of these have looked like pretty nice breeder stock birds.
A friend of mine bought a breeding pair of these some time ago at a market stall in the country. He doesn't know what breed they are but did say they breed like crazy and now he has so many of these gorgeous birds. So he gave me 2 hens for my mixed flock. They are really cute little bantams and get along really well with my 2 Japanese bantam hens. I cant have roosters as I live in the city. Thanks for your reply. Bill
