black bears and electric wire

I live surrounded by national forest, and we have lots of bears. My run has a solid roof on it, my coop and run are encircled in five strands of 3.1 joule hot wire, all coop and run openings are secured with locking carabiners, and are also surrounded by bear unwelcome mats. I also only keep feed in my run, and bring it inside at night.

thanks everyone! Hot wire ordered. I think I will also put up electric netting around the run as well for double security. I will also start bringing their food in (which is unfortunate since I just built a storage area in their coop). Thank you for all the advice! Hoping to have a dead bear soon.

Make sure you get a good fence tester, to ensure wire stays hot...
....and some bacon for 'training bait'.

One Bycer has had bears around her property. She resorted to throwing fire crackers at them. After a couple times of doing this, she just had to open her door and the bear would take off running. Just too scary for them to deal with.
