Black berries from a tree. They love them, are they ok?

We have a couple of mulberry trees around here. My ducks especially love them..One thing to remember..and I didn't notice if it was mentioned yet...they will start pooing purplish. So don't freak out. LOL

I guess I am a photo junky and a plant nerd. How about this... This is the leaves of the choke cherry tree and fruit, like jwchicklady suggested. Do the leaves and fruit look anything like this?

I have the same question guys. I'm building my new coop and these tiny black berries are falling from a massively tall tree in my backyard. I need to know if these things are safe.

Here are some pics

Any thoughts?

Sorry, I'm not a good pic poster. They don't seem to have bothered anyone of them yet so I guess it's ok. Yes they are smaller then blueberries and alot darker too. Thanks for the responses.
Shelly, Perhaps you can do a google search for "berries that grow on trees in "insert the name of your state here!" Or you could pick a leaf and take it or a pic of the tree and berries to your country agricultural extension office. IMO, if the chickens are enjoying them, they are safe to eat.

To all of the posters re: mulberries, I so wish they grew this far north!. They sound like the perfect tree for a diverse yard full of fruit!

Elderberries: My understanding is that they need to be cooked in order to make them safe for humans. I'm waiting for my trees to start producing fruit. I've heard they are great for any respiratory issues.

Shellyb, Take a look at my post above. My berries are privet berries. Do your berries look like mine?
