Black bumps covering my rooster's comb?

Any idea what these black bumps covering this RI Red rooster's comb is, that appeared a week or two ago? He is about 9 months old and a surplus bird separate from my flock that may be processed soon, but am wondering what this is? It doesn't have the white and black scabs like in the photos of pox I saw elsewhere at this site. It's not frostbite either.

I believe it is pox, the dry variety. If it is, it will gradually go away.
