I think I mixed it up and now I’m over thinking it. These pics show them at 2 weeks old. I can’t tell my black star and olive egger chicks apart as I am still new to this. I’m pretty sure the ones with the dots on the head are the olive eggers, and does this mean they are males? Thanks in advance for advice on either of my questions.

Also here’s a little bit more updated photo showing a comb coming in. Both with the dots on their head have similar combs.

The black stars, if they're female, should be solid black, with no head spot, and the Olive Eggers should be the barred ones, where the feathers are coming in striped looking. Those could be either male or female, both genders can be barred. Now if you have black star males, those would be barred, because they're sex-linked.

Thank you! That helps me tremeandously with the identification of the breed. I think I knew that from when I did my initial research but was having second thoughts as they grow up.

One of the above olive eggers is now starting to get a mohawk, is this a thing? Just curious.

That’s normal! Olive Eggers are often made by crossing Cream Crested Legbars with a brown egg layer, and that’s where the “mohawk,” the crest, comes from.
