I have 7 rhode island reds, about 3 or 4 months old. One of them has her comb turning black. It stands high and looks like a scab or like she's burned it. It's summer and we're in Texas, so it's definitely not frostbite! Anybody know what this is? I appreciate any help!

It's just in one place, but it looks like it had swollen and died off? Will that happen with a pecking injury? Our rooster is older than them, but young. He's a bit..frisky. Would he do that? I have seen and stopped him from attempting to mate with them...and our dog.
