black comb

We had a serama rooster that developed dark spots on his comb which turned black, then it progressed to the entire comb, then within 2 weeks the comb turned gray and hardened like it died. The rooster was puffy toward the end and his stools were sticking to his vent, we tried everything to save him. No luck, he died.

Sorry to hear about your rooster. Are you having weird weather issues where you live, too hot or too cold Usually black spots on a comb and eventually dropping the damaged parts is a sign of frostbite. Could also have damage if another roo/ bird fought with him and badly damaged his comb.

Hi, and welcome to backyard chickens!
I found this article on blackeded comb on chickens. To me it sounds like failing heart or liver. Are your curreny sick rooster related to the one that died. It could be a genetic failing.
I hope you figure this out.
