Oh no don't worry about that. I was just explaining why we had to start another from Jesse's original thread.
This one is mine and so you are more than welcome here. I don't spend to much time here because I have to manage the other forum but I just check in here every once in a while to place some updates.

Yes, I am hoping to get some marans. I love the dark eggs so much. I had bought some for my daughter, but I was still a bit scared of standards and they didn't lay for the short time we had them so we sold them until we could get a bigger/better set up for standards. She keeps asking for my "chocolate egg laying" chickens and every time she says barred rocks, she thinks it's them! hehe (They were cuckoo's, obviously.)

DUDE! Napa, that photo is offensive to me. Using the flag as a prop which is subject to getting pooped on by a chicken is just really REALLY not the way to treat the flag, at least not the way I was raised.

From the French Official Standard-

Tarsi : average size, with some feathers white or lightly pink coloured for all the varieties except for the BLACK, BROWN-RED and BIRCHEN Marans
were grey or dark grey is permitted, although not preferred, for both sexes. Four long and well separated toes with the outer one sparsely feathered.
The claws are white or horn- coloured.

The Marans Chicken Club is working on an APA standard for Marans. At this time it calls for Marans to have feathered shanks per French Standard.
