What are the chances that a dark egg color gene is passed down if the male is a black copper maran and the female is a brown egg layer, like an australorp or a rir?

I'm not sure.
I would think it would still lay darker eggs, since there is no other colors over coming or mixing with the dark egg color gene
 
You would need a fair amount of off spring from the pair to determine your ratio.
I’m thinking since I’ve just figured out that my maran is a male, that, if possible it would be great to get some eggs from him and a pullet, so that I can get dark colored eggs that way from their offspring.
