Good morning everyone, I found two eggs yesterday in our coop. I want to keep them forever! (just proud)
Originally, I hatched eggs from an incubator twice. My first lot are 18 weeks and the babies are 9 weeks. The first lot, I have way to many roosters (13 to 13). The second lot, I have not really counted but am sure the ratio is half and half. We are going to have to separate most of the boys ASAP! We have all Black Copper Marans. I have a lot of fun with these guys.
Anyway, is it normal for a hen of 18 weeks to lay eggs??? Isnt it like a 16 year old having babies??? The eggs were slightly smaller than they should be but still perfect!
I am new to farming! I just started in February and it is now July. We live in a little town called Aldergrove, BC, Canada. We are about an hour east of Vancouver, BC. We are onto our third month of no rain and probably another three more. We are having temperatures of 30-40degrees C (90-110degess F). We are becoming California-like!
We also have pigs and are going to get some Red Angus cows. We are trying to name our farm. I like: "Gettin' Layed" or "Livin' the Dream" or " Belly Acres"
Thank you
Dana
