Black Copper Maran Where to buy good quailty chicks?

Hello,

I just recently sold my Barnevelder flock and looking at buying some Black Copper Maran chicks. Where can I buy good quality chicks? I want to get some ASAP so I can get some eggs this summer and the only place I have come across that has some available with good bloodlines is Greenfire Farms. Any other recommendations, and is $30-$56 each (straight run) the going rate. I'm assuming this breed is very hard to sex. Thanks in advance.

Here is a link to some from Purely poultry. They are about $12 each. Hens. Straight run and roosters are less.
Greenfire farms are Designer Brand Chickens. I know they are good quality. Price is also reflected there.
If you want to start a breeding program, I suggest you bite the bullet and mainline the Upper Shelf Chickens. If you just want a GOOD dual purpose chicken that lays dark eggs, and meat is of quality( that is what I read) try the lesser hatchery grade.

If you are only looking for the dark eggs, Welsummers are a breed that lays dark eggs and they are typically much easier and cheaper to find vs the Marans breed.

What part of the country R U in?
