Black Copper Maran

I need help sexing my Black Copper Marans! I was so excited when I saw this breed at a local feed store I got two straight run chicks! Now if only I can figure out hen or roo

They are about 3 weeks old maybe 4!

I would think much to young to tell. One seems quite a bit larger than the other. Are they the same age? 3 to 4 weeks is pretty young to tell gender but I have no experience with black Marans. I do want black maran hen BAD For most chickens you might get signs at about 6 to 8 weeks but more reliable signs at about 12 to 14. At least from my experience. But your checks are adorable. I love them

way too soon but very cute I have black copper I am hatching nn now so feel your pain

You won't have to wait too long. Marans tend to show themselves pretty early (unless it's a slow developer cockerel but then you'd be suspicious of slow feathering) but by 6 weeks you should know. Post good front and side shots showing comb and waddle in a week or two. It would help if you could pin down the age better too.

when i was first geting in to chickens i bought 6 barred rocks, turns out 3 of them were black coppers

Here is the week 6 update! I can barely tell them apart at this point, one has little white dots next to its eyes. I am thinking they are both pullets. What does everyone else think?
