Black copper Marans BCM 5/6 weeks

I believe this black copper maran is about 5-6 weeks. Can someone tell me is this a pullet or cockerel?

Thank you I was thinking the same thing, but we purchase him from a feeder as pullets.

Vent sexing is roughly 90% accurate and most hatcheries do note this as a disclaimer on their websites, so accidents do happen.

Can you keep him?

Unfortunately they don’t allow roosters in our city.

I think give this little one a bit more time. Yes the comb gives some reason to doubt but it’s not really red. I also don’t see any wattles. My copper marans that turned out to be a roo had red wattles quite obvious already at that stage. I don’t think it’s obvious yet one way or another.

Pullet. In Some BCM lines you will see the Copper feathers showing on the wings at 6 weeks. Also, BCM roos develop their tail (sickle) feathers much slower than their pullet counterparts.
