What is shafting?I just can not see any Shafting on this Male. Could we get a straight on shot from the front to be sure.
So crossing them to my roosters that have a little too much copper would be good? Weird, cause they all came from the same lady. I thought maybe the girls would get their copper in when they got older.. this boy would work ok with them though, right?

Overall I'm super excited. I didn't expect to get this lucky with my first birds. Can't wait until my hens start laying!
Shafting is when the quill of the feather is a lighter color than the rest of the feather. On a BCM cockerel this could show as a copper colored line down the center of the black breast feathers. It is a color defect that you don't want on any of your birds.What is shafting?
