Black Copper Marans discussion thread

gorgeous!

mine is a sweet pet too. I cannot imagine bcm roos might be aggressive!

Thank you! I wasn't sure if he has to much copper ect...
I've had both sweet and aggressive. The one I have now is very sweet but my flock has rejected him so I separated him and hatched some eggs. I'll probably keep one of his sons but he'll be looking for a new home. My flock will readily accept young birds in with no issues do that's the route I have to take.

Mine is just maturing. He has been attempting but not much luck. They still squat for me or my head hen Lola . She's a loud curious BR. He's so sweet I'm afraid of the same thing happening. I really want some of his off spring!! Crossing fingers.

Heres 3 of my french black copper marans chicks I hatched In the NYD hatchalong.

Congratulations! Do you happen to have a Marans egg color card you can take a pic with so that we can see the difference?

No we don't have one. Do you know the best place to find one? I imagine printing one ourselves wouldn't result in one that is true to color

We hatched 28 this weekend, they are a mix between the Little Peddler and recently imported Greenfire Farms lines, curious to see how these turn out. So far the chicks look awesome and are very lively!

I need to get better photos of them as a group, but it was chilly out and I didn't want them away from their light too long.

Just move the chick in that second pic over to my batch, could they get any cuter. Can't wait to pick them up!

today my bcm pullet escaped to another run where I have a rumpless araucana cockerel. I don't know if they mated. in case they did would I be able to distinguish pure bcm chicks?
