Glad everyone else is doing great!

X 2 AND QUICK is a BLESSING.

Sorry for the loss raven.... math ace don't throw anything at me! My last hatch of 7 bcm seem to be 1 cockrel and 6 pullets! Though they are all very mossy and not of very good quality. They are destined to be dark eating egg layers!

Welcome to the Black Copper thread! Congratulations on your boy!

Do you have any more photos of him to share with us that will perhaps show us a little more of him from some different angles? I would love to see some if you have them.

I'll take more tonight. I think he is going to turn out to a great looking rooster.

ZANNA - - -

Looks like you have two votes that cockerel # 4 needs another look

I will try to get some more pics of him and my other candidates when the torrential downpours stop............may be a few days.......
Thanks for all your help Pink and Mathace!!!

I think I read on here (maybe) that BCM girls have black combs at first and not the roos? Is that a way to tell them apart early? I have 2 with black nubs and 3 with tiny pinkish combs at 3 weeks old. Thoughts?

I'm thinking it sounds like your 3 with pinkish combs at this age could be males but photos would be great help for all.

Hey guys, I agree that Zanna's 4th rooster looks the best overall, but isn't he more likely to produce overdark offspring, particularly hens? With the overabundance of dark hens out there, wouldn't it be wise to also keep a rooster on the lighter side? Seems like it's hard to nail down a rooster until you know what hens he will be paired with, and I don't see a lot of overcoppered hens out there.

Just my 2cents.
