I finally got my first BCM egg!
I tried to adjust the photo to be as accurate with the color as possible (this is put aside a large white leghorn egg)

My 9 pullets have a couple of BCM roosters with them and I would like to start incubating the eggs - but how big should the egg be to be able to hatch a chick...I think this egg would be too small?

OMG!! I have only 4 BCM laying hens and 3 of them are broody. 2 are not even sitting on eggs.....

I also have two other breed broody hens (also not sitting on anything) in the last few days..... I think it might be contagious.

I think I might just take some of the chicks I just hatched and place one under each hen, just to get them off their butts!

The one broody I have, well I am going to try to slip the 12 chicks I hatched on Thursday under her this Thursday. . .. . .

I have a cochin that was sitting some D'uccle eggs from who knows when

I found her in a hidey hole.. The eggs were from ??? and I slid about 20 marans eggs under her.... It was a nest I found.. maybe I will get a baby or two from that!!!!

Second pic could be female female... but that's a maybe... One looks pretty large.

I am useless at sexing chicks this young--BUT in my experience, the tuxedo doesn't make a difference on the sex of the bird. Geebs & Pink have this sexing thing to a science and I need to learn it!!

in the second picture there is probably about 3/4 days difference in age. thank you for your help

Hey Seabreeze and Ayeupchuck, I think you have both bought BCM chicks from Andy in Corvallis, OR? He has a hatch due this weekend and I was thinking of buying a few chicks to put under two broodies that I can not seem to break. Don't need more chicks, I have some on order from 3 different sources coming the end of the month, and in June but want to get these two girls back to egglaying ASAP. His stock is supposed to be Davis/Jean/Presley. Let me know what you think of him and the birds if you can. PM me or post here.
