I love my marans, but to be honest, as I walk down my rows of pens, I gotta agree with CHICKENBOY 1, my marans are not my prettiest ones. Of course, I don't have any UGLY birds, but my marans... facing facts and keeping it real, it is mostly the eggs that make my heart skip a beat, not the hens. The roosters are pretty handsome, big, gentle, standout colorful, but the hens... kinda plain looking to me.

I spoke with Bev around 5:30; I asked if folks were "positive" or worried - she said, "There are no down faces!" She also said there are lots of positive comments on the cage cards. She feels strongly that we'll get passed, and they are to announce at dinner. So exciting! I had goosebumps just talking with her!

On another happy note, I got a good solid 8 color out of one of my girls today. No speckles, nothing. Just dark. Almost missed it in the corner of the nest box...
