I agree.... that is basically what I do to. Blue eggs can be hard to see in too.... OLIVE EGGERS are the WORST I can't even see clears in those so dense and the coating does not help. If they don't smell they make it to lockdown. BTW I have a 400 Lumens flashlight and can see in most any eggs with ease. Not much better than a 250 lumens. I would think with 1000 lumens you could see in the next county.![]()
I need new batteries.
A hunter friend of mine showed me this one. I'm thinking about it, http://www.amazon.com/TrustFire-C8-...78&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=crete+led+flashlight
Anticipating pretty eggs to come along around June; I am wondering if any of you have found anything that actually works for candling Marans eggs? I have what was supposed to be a 1000 lumens LED flashlight but it's having a hard time on my blue EE and light brown BO eggs, can't imagine I'd be able to see anything at all in something darker. (or maybe it's just the cheap flashlight?) Wondering if those special egg candlers the poultry places sell really work or?
I didn't see what kind of batteries it takes... sometimes that is the kicker. Mine takes some kind of weir battery that cost more than the flashlight. REALLY! Had to go to a police supply store to get batteries for it.
The BCM eggs i have in the bator I can see through some but others are dark inside So im thinking I have 5 forming and 7 not.. But who knows![]()

I wanted to tell you... My batteries were really weak on the 400 lumens FL from China. So we bought 2 packs of 3 each 250 Lumens FL from Costco's even came with batteries. So I grabbed one and put the water bottle top on it and it was SO BRIGHT I had to use the lower setting on it. I have a video of me candleing eggs with it, but it is pretty bad I am sure, hard to work in the dark with a camera in one hand and a flashlight over eggs with the other. I will post it later. ANYWAY... the 3 pack was ONLY $16 or less. Hubby didn't understand way I want 6 flashlights but for that price I had to get themThey work great. Not sure the cheap ones online are really what they say. I have had a few cheap ones I ordered and NONE were as bright as this one.![]()
