Black Copper Marans discussion thread

With comb and wattles that big at 10 weeks I'd say you have a nice olive or easter egger boy there.
I would like to note that this is not a pea comb but more like a rose comb and not a true one of those either.
This one is a pullet; just have to wait and see what color egg she lays; any green tinge at all and she is not pure Marans
This pullet has a white ear, right?
Question about this: With her wiggly comb and white ear would anyone else guess she has Penedesenca in her hx??

A pea mixed with a single can sometimes look like this, I have a couple.
It is probably the lighting, as well as in some birds it takes a while for the earlobe to change color

That comb is way to wide to be a pea comb. I hatch ameraucanas and olive eggers all the time by the dozens and have never see a comb comb out looking like a rose comb. They are totally different. Btw rose comb is dominate so yoir pullet does not carry that gene.....but i would assume they are all possible crossed and not breed them.

Ok here's another pic..... Are you guys sure this is a pullet?

Wow, I thought I was getting better at guessing the sex of these crazy chickens???? What about this blue copper Marans?
I'd say pullet? Comb is smaller and grayer than I would expect in a male that age, and I see no sign of saddle feathers (long pointy feathers that grow pointing down from the base of the tail)
