They might be 15 generations away from the original breeder so they are NOT Wade Jeane lines and have not been since they left his hands. 

That light colored girl in the middle?  she is really mossy.  If it was me I would not use any of these birds.  too much hidden in the wood pile there.  You could try with the more normal looking birds but I would think the same issues would pop up in the next generation.

First pic is what the "mossy" one looks like now at 16 weeks. Would she be wheaten if not mossy? ..or just goofy? And ....after I took the pics and compared with Kinzie's pullet there's not as much similarities as I thought.

Found 2 first eggs today( I think from the same pullet) from a 21 week old BCM pullet. I am very disappointed in the egg color, it's sort of a light chocolate milk color She will be culled from the breeder pen and very likely be rehomed to someone's layer flock. I'm bummed.

Thank you both for responding. I do plan to hang on to her for a bit to see if the color changes. I have always read that they lay the darkest in the beginning and if you get a light egg now then that's it. I have 3 Marans hens and all of their first eggs were dark so I just assumed that's how it should go. Thanks though it gives me hope Ill post back with her egg color later if it changes. I still have 4 more Marans pullets waiting to lay their first eggs also.

This is from the original post. And from a distance she looks mossy. If you are only looking for darker eggs in Olive Eggers it makes no difference. I would not breed her for a Marans.

No, definitely would not use her for breeding Marans. If I decided to sell her for some reason I would not say she was Marans, maybe a Marans cross? The eggs they hatched from were nice and dark.

Talked with the breeder I'm get my Buff Brahmas from. Not going to hatch out the 20 I ordered so they are sending me some BCM's. Not sure how many. Hopefully I will get at least a pullet and cockerel out of the deal. LOL. I'll upload pics when I get them Wednesday or Thursday. New to BCM's. Been reading this thread. Sort of excited to see what they look like.

Actually had a rooster years ago. He was mean as a snake. Took a chuck out of my finger. Gave him away. I guess a coyote eat him.

Bootsy (front) & Barbarella (back) before "lights out" tonight. Not sure of their exact age, they are not laying yet, but they are just as big as my biggest 8 month old Easter Egger hen. I have a feeling they are going to be big gals. Looking forward to their brown eggs, too! Beautiful birds!

I ordered Buff Brahmas from a breeder but they didn't hatch enough. So they throw in 2 BCM's. If God is with me, I will have a pullet and cockerel. HAHAHA

I have some BCM crossed with Plymouth Barred Rock chicks hatching and they look exactly like BCM chicks. I am going .tp have to be careful never to hatch them together
