Black Copper Marans discussion thread

This will increase oxygen and decrease C02. I wonder if the better hatches with low humidity are improved because of oxygen? Just a thought.
I have read arguments for lower and higher humidity. Lower just makes sense in my head, and all I'm thinking is evaporation through those heavily painted shells, but there's no way to know what works for me until I try it. Since I only got 12 from this hatch, I will be setting at least 2 more. I will run the next one at 30%, compare results, then go from there

good update, thanks

what about combs?
Combs seem to be very "flimsy" on the pullets... They dont flop over per say but dont stand up stiffly either... They are also smaller than what ive seen in my others. Males combs seem fine maybe too many points...

I have yet to have a BCM with a nuce comb... No side sprigs, but too meaty, and the points aren't great.

I would think that those being "floppy" means they are thin and not meaty, so actually a good thing.

I have had very poor results hatching BCM eggs until last go around.... At $20 per egg I am sure happy i did well with those... Paid for 12 hatched 9. I used 40% during the first 18 days 60% days 19-21 and 65% during the hatch. I followed the recommendations that Brenda gave me and it worked.
