I am doing a similar cross with my brown-red and splash modern game birds, all offspring should be blue.

I have not had modern game birds before. Do you also have Marans?

I have Marans eggs from a friend in the incubator now. A blue roo over black hens.

The modern game birds are bred for mostly showmanship cockerels.

I say give it a shot.

People buy fertile eggs from Trader Joes all the time and hatch chicks from them even after refrigeration. Search google for "trader joes chicks". I couldn't believe it, but it's true.
