Black Copper Marans discussion thread

OK so being absolutely new to this, as in hatched a olive egger 4 days ago

This is a cross with my BCM rooster and my araucana. I am hoping that this pullet (fingers crossed) will lay an olive green egg. At least that is the wisdom that is floating around on the forums. Look up the olive egger thread. Lots of info. As I understand it, a dark egg with a blue egg makes a green egg layer. A dark egg with a white egg makes a brown egg layer, and so on. I find the dark brown/blue egg combo the most interesting so far.

He is gorgeous .he wasn t a champion for nothing look at him stunning ,Excellent type and color .

he have 2 great trait showing he s well balanced color wise and he will throw nicely colored progeny ( No black pullets with this guy)

First thing is his hear TUFT same color as his hackle.

second his shank are pinkish ( lighter ) at the bottom and the rear ( that what I see) No dark

Here what I see in the French champion BCM coq

Type ; Excellent .nice and long No square Neither Tall.
Head = pretty , solid
Eyes = well colored
Beak = well curved and colored .thick and Solid.
Comb =nice size ,well erected , free from defect . well serrated .Good texture and color.
Wattle = medium size well colored and free from from defect.
Hear Tuft = nice coppery color same as the Hackle.
Neck = Short , solid. Arch at the top . lush and nice coppery color free from Flames
Back ; long .tilted, wide, nice color
Shoulder = wide .nice rich color.
Saddle = wide ,flat
Lancet = lush and well colored in copper.
Wings= tucked to body nicely , Black triangle , glossy Bow .
Tail = short ,well formed and positioned .nice black glossy color.
Body = well formed and proportioned nice Black color free of sheen .
Shanks= strait. solid. well feathered. and nicely colored NOT dark .
Thigh = strong and well erected free from Fluff .

Well balanced over all body color Black and copper with rich red at the shoulders . the black is free from sheen except the wing bow. the copper is rich and free from gold.
Shanks light slate colored at the front and the top . pick/white at the rear and the bottom with a pink/white toes.

Grand Champion of France

This male's type is excellent- tail, gorgeous!

His feet look awfully light and pink in this photo- on my monitor I'm not seeing any slate at all. Also, believe there may be a sprig at the rear of his comb.
Still... his topline and tail are amazing.
