Oh I am not sure on this one . . . . .

At day 3, I called it a cockerel, but I don't know now

I am thinking it might be a pullet

So, I REALLY messed up on this one. . . . I called it PULLET and there is just no way that is so. I think I did pretty good. I WISH I had taken pictures of their wings when we called them . . . . There were a couple we just weren't sure on. I wonder if those were the ones we eventually were wrong on ? ? ?

The next time I try sexing them, I will take photos of the wings to analyze my mistakes.

I CHANGE my vote on this one to COCKEREL!

Thanks for posting, quite a difference.

Yes, the pics I posted born this month, sorry I meant to write 2/7 and was looking at the calendar and wrote 2/10

and they are from Maran hens.

Are they that different?

Lisa - great pics! Nice job!

Seabreeze - TMs - they are gorgeous! LOVE them!

Always have loved large dogs...I lost my best canine buddy I've ever had this past September, a Great Dane. Lost her brother a few weeks ago. It's been a pretty sad 6 months, but hopefully, 2011 will be a good year otherwise...

Also - for both Lisa & seabreeze - I see yellow feet....am I right? If so, that is a DQ, I believe. If I'm not seeing it correctly - sorry! (and, I hope I'm wrong!!)

Mine have pale pink. The lighting (sometimes with flash and sometimes without AND inside using reflector lamps to add more light) is playing tricks with the feet. They look yellow if they are in the shadows . . . I'll try to get the next set of pictures in NATURAL LIGHT - - - if it even stops raining here.

Oh, I know what you mean. It's always difficult to get the lighting just right unless you're some sort of pro photographer (which I am NOT!). They're cuties, and you're doing an AWESOME job chronicling their development - I'm super excited about watching them grow out with you and everyone!

I'll have to go and look in the sunlight Wynette, they looked more grayish to me but heck, my flash was pretty close and maybe they are yellow.....ARGH!!!

His previous chicks (from Maran hens) that are about 2 months old now definitely pink-gray legged with lots of feathers on legs. I'll try and get some pics of those next week.

I'm sorry about your Dane(s), they are a WONDERFUL BREED, I love them to bits! I would have been in Danes except for several things.
I like hairy dogs
I like tails that curl over the back (just like the Yak's does when they are excited and run off

)
I like big square heads and strong bone
longevity

Thank you so much for your kind compliments on my dogs. Now its time to learn about Marans as well as I do about dogs
