Here is a picture of my 4 week old cockerels . . .

Here is a pullet for comparison

The girl has a little color to her comb and wattle, but not nearly as much as the boys. PLUS, the boys seem to have larger combs and wattles.

Hi Neighbor!

They sure do look like Marans to me....and if they are laying a nice egg then it sounds like you have a Marans. As what to do with them since quarantine is almost over....pair them up with that new rooster that you got that is from my birds and test mate.....test mate.....test mate. Girl....I'm just down the road from ya if you need help with anything.

Oh and look who is hanging around perched on my arm while I type. A little Blue Copper that hatched on Valentine's Day.....she thinks she's the stuff.

Hey I got some eggs from crFarms and she are out of kentucky her eggs are pretty dark and so far 9 out of 12 are developing! awesome so far for shipped eggs!

Yes some young Black Copper cockerels can have some copper in their chest, but there is copper and then there is shafting. A photo would help so that we can help determine the answer to your second question.
