Congratulations!!! First eggs are sooooo exciting!! I'm still waiting for my 21wk old girl to lay her first.

I hope I don't offend you, but does anyone else think your girls eye rims are swollen?

I'm dealing with several birds in my flock that are exactly the same and since we've eliminated viral and bacterial infections, I'm thinking allergies now. So frustrating...

I had not noticed, anyone else think so? If so, what do I do?

I've been asking that question for nearly 2 weeks now.

5 birds to the vet and hundreds of dollars on lab work and no answers. I'm starting to think it's all in my head.

The eyes and surrounding area look normal to me.....

For me, SQUATTING is the BEST indicator of when they are going to lay.
When I see SQUATTING, I know new eggs will be in the box in a week or so.

I wish the young roosters would Squat. It so east to pet them when they are squatting!

So strange. Ok maybe it's just in my head then. I posted the below a few days ago. This is what i've been going through the past couple of weeks.

I noticed yesterday that a few of my birds eye rims were starting to look inflamed again. No other symptoms though.

Bravo, I recommend doing a search on the forum for posts on this subject by Resolution. In addition to his recommendations on diagnosis and treatment, also consider what he says about husbandry practices (specifically, dust, "poultry smut", keeping feed off the ground and so on...).
