Debbi, It is just like when you learned or was taught how to hold onto your man, It is all in how you hold them. I will be back and explain the whole process later.

Looking forward to hearing about the Taming of the Roos.

I got a load of hatching eggs, he is the best BCM I chose to keep. His brother is a DOLL, but is Birchen. I do not believe they were related, but anyone will tell you anything to make money. I got another bunch of eggs, thru e-bay, but she said she belonged to BYC, I know her as Zipposchick, but her real name is Crystal. I don't know if she is really from here... There are more boys, only 3 mo old.
Anyway, Yes I would like to breed to SOP, but not as important as egg production. I am ready to lock Clyde in the garage waiting for him to grow up. I have too many roos in a town where I should have NONE. He may just put everything over the edge, and I just wanted a second opinion. Thanks, Roberta

Wish you were closer Roberta, I'd be happy to take Clyde off your hands! Now what would I call him, Clyde 2?

(I already have a Clyde)

You did it again, Debbi! Once again, my hearty laugh for the day ...

My 2 black copper almost 21 week old pullets are red as can be and have stopped running from the roos. Even my Ameraucana is getting on board!! So eggs can't be too far behind now ...

For sure. I told you that in the other thread. Just what I can see from the pics, he is a very nice looking boy. He may be the crower now, but if he is removed from the equation, another roo will step up to take his place! Roos crow and breed hens, just the facts of life.

Sorry to sound like a jerk. I thought I was in the wrong thread, and your avatar is a silkie, so....
It will take a while to get to know everyone. Thanks

My personal opinion is I really like your rooster, and if there is a way to get him in a place where the crowing isn't a problem, I certainly would keep him. Crowing has never been an issue for me since I'm way out in the sticks. I like the way he is built. Very nice looking, IMHO.

I had a little rooster in a chicken tractor outside my bedroom window for a while. I timed him. He crowed every 20 seconds for several hours every day. He no longer resides here, but not because of his crowing.

I had a rooster we were never able to gentle. That little demon would fly up and whack you every time. I suppose we didn't handle him right. My husband knocked him unconscious several times. My sister had him for a while. She knocked him out a couple times. One time she whacked him with the feed scoop when he flew at her and broke his leg. She splinted him up, and he lived to fight for a long time after that. I think if that little booger could have flown up out of the grave he would have done it just to whack somebody.
RIP, Grumpy!

BTW, ALL of my BCM roosters have been sweet as pie. I do know of one that I sold to a lady nearby, and he turned out so mean she had to pen him up separate so he doesn't get her. Too bad. He's an awesome looking rooster. Why does that always happen? The best ones have some little defect or a personality problem!

Debbi-I am NOT going into the banana thing!!!!!!!!
